Adetiq HQ took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 27 September 2019 as part of a nation-wide effort to help bring awareness and support to MacMillan Cancer Support.
MacMillan Cancer Support has been running for over 100 years, founded in 1911 by Douglas MacMillan, originally entitled the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer.
When possible Adetiq like to take part in community events such as this, to help raise money for charity and this year we were able to raise £300 for the fight against cancer.
Since the charity began, MacMillan have gone on to deliver a new approach to cancer treatment; providing training to doctors and nurses, campaigning for free prescriptions for cancer patients, setting up support services, as well as pioneering the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, an event that allows everyone to join the effort in fighting cancer.
The staff here at Adetiq brought in over 18 different bakes ranging from victoria sponges, cookies, rocky road slabs, cinnamon swirls and even cheese twists to join Adetiq in paying it forward and helping the community.
Michael Hill, Managing Director said: MacMillan is one of Adetiq’s chosen charities, we run internal charity events a few times each year to raise money for good causes. It was great to see the effort the staff had gone to in making some delicious treats to sample whilst we raised money. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who baked, cooked, decorated, ate, drank and donated, it was a real company-wide effort.”
Last year MacMillan Cancer Support raised £230.8 million for people living with cancer and this money was then spent on the much-needed services including; healthcare, information and support, learning and development, financial support and campaigning.
The coffee morning was a huge success and a special thanks is given to Drury Tea and Coffee Company, for donating tea and coffee for our coffee morning, which meant our staff could enjoy a slice of cake, or a unicorn cupcake, alongside filtered tea and coffee from a local Brighton business.
